Tips

  • Rent the car (or camper, motorcycle): It's not advisable to visit Sardinia without your own transportation. You can only reach the most beautiful beaches with a vehicle, and public transport doesn't guarantee access to the best places.
  • Boat experience: Highly recommended many companies across the island offer a variety of boat trips to experience the Sardinian sea. Book in advance if you're traveling in July or August.
  • Download offline maps: Even with internet access, download offline maps from Google Maps or use Organic Maps. This ensures safe navigation and helps you reach your destination.
  • Beaches: Arrive early (before 9am) at La Pelosa and Is Arutas access is limited and they fill up fast in summer.
  • Food: Try porceddu (roast suckling pig), culurgiones (stuffed pasta), pecorino sardo, bottarga, and seadas (fried honey pastry).
  • Alghero: A Catalan enclave the local dialect is still Catalan and the architecture reflects it. Stay at least two nights.
